So let's talk about Denver(The TRUTH behind my previous "Re-Cap" post)
From tropical island to bustling American city, this is definatly a new adventure that we we're NOT prepared for. Then again, going off to college, what kid is? Sure, perhaps we have a different scenario than some people (kids we talk to live cities away, maybe a state, and we get to say "oh we live thousands of miles a way on a little rock out in the middle of nowhere"). My dad, sister, Colby and I packed up a Uhaul and made our way across illinois and I think Nebraska? Anyways, it was LONG 15 hour drive. Colby and I had the delight of being in a packed Ford Focus with my cat Bali, WHO, might I add, would not stay in her carrier for the life of her. Finally, after two days of driving, and many, MANY, pitstops, we arrived to Denver! I remember, the cat was in Colby's lap and Muse was blasting through the speakers. One moment there was vast dead nothing landscape, and the next CITY CITY URBAN URBAN. Lots of houses and buildings. It was nice though, being use to the gigantic-ness of Chicago, the tiny size of Denver's actual CITY was a nice change up. We got to the hotel and then it was a big long "what do we do now?" discussion. With only a week to register for classes and find a place to live, chaos was destined to fit in somewhere. But sure enough, we finally found a place to set up camp, an apartment (though very overpriced) Colby and I have grown to love very much! We settled in, and got registered for classes and it was "Bye Bye parental units, hellooooo real life". Scary at first, yes, but we're having a lot of fun. Colby's campus is BEAUTIFUL, by the way. DU is such a nice school. Extrememly pricy, but very nice. Colby has settled into the college life very well, and is thriving in ALL of his classes. He is having so much fun, and seeing how passionate he is about school (the fact that he is excited to go to class almost every day), has motivated me to get going with classes, and TRY to figure out where I fit in. Colby is majoring in economics, and LOVES every class he's in. I want...wanted? am wanting to do nursing, but I guess in todays world, getting even an associates nursing degree is nearly impossible (with all the waitlists). Soo, I'm just continuing my nursing education as much as I can, and am dabbling in art and psychology related fields. CCD campus is very pretty too. I'm RIGHT in the city! Anyways, aside from school, Colby and I have been having a blast checking out the local shops and cafe's and we have found a new OBSESSION with thrift stores! Can't get enough of them! The people of Denver are neat too, very outgoing, openminded. Definatly a bit different from what I knew in Illinois, and what Colby knew in Washington, but still fun. THE WEATHER, on the other hand. OH. Started snowing in OCTOBER, and we're having a hard time acclimating! One day it will be high 60s and within the next three hours we're having a blizzard warning! It's a nice change though, but I personally don't think that anything compares to tropical island weather:) Many more adventures to talk about! I know it's taking a while for me to catch up, but I'm getting there. Next few blog posts will be about our trips to see some Kwaj friends around the state, and lots of mountains and whatever adventure falls in our laps! So so far, Denver is A-OK! *not edited by colby, obvious spelling and grammer errors, SOORRRRYY!*
